It may not feel like it right now, but you have options.
Experiencing abuse from someone you love can be incredibly confusing and difficult to process. At times, your home life may feel volatile and unpredictable, while at other times it may seem completely normal or even picture-perfect. You might be more fearful of what could happen if you leave than if you stay. There may be moments when you’re certain that you must do something to make it stop, but feel powerless to escape the situation. If this sounds familiar, please reach out to Empower Tehama by calling our 24-Hour Crisis Hotline at 530-528-0226 or visiting our Business Center at 1805 Walnut Street, Red Bluff, CA.
Talking to an advocate in person or over the phone doesn’t obligate you to do anything further – it’s simply a way to understand your options. Whether you’re thinking about staying or leaving, our advocates are here to listen, support, and provide information. It’s entirely up to you how to proceed.
Just remember, you’re not alone.
Reach out when you’re ready, and we’ll be here to help.

Crisis Counseling
A state of crisis can triggered by recent abuse, fear of continued abuse, or even memories of past abuse. During these times, it can be difficult to think clearly, and you might question if you're truly seeing things as they are. Speaking with a trained advocate in a safe environment can be incredibly helpful, and Empower Tehama provides that safe space. At Empower Tehama’s Business Center, a certified Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Crisis Counselor is always available from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and 24/7 through the Crisis Hotline.
Legal Advocacy & Assistance
You don't have to navigate this journey alone. Our legal advocates are here to help you with filling out and filing protective orders, as well as providing assistance with family and civil matters resulting from victimization. They offer support and accompaniment during court proceedings, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.
If you decide to engage in criminal justice processes that hold offenders accountable, such as giving a statement to law enforcement or testifying in court, Empower Tehama can help you understand how the system works and stand by your side throughout the entire process.
Support Groups
Though you may feel alone right now, it’s important to know that you’re not the only one who has faced this situation. Many survivors have reported that sharing their experiences, learning about healing, and gaining the tools to create a safer future can be life-changing. Our support groups, facilitated by trained staff, provide both educational insights and opportunities to discuss your experience and listen to fellow survivors. If you believe a support group could benefit you, please call or visit Empower Tehama and ask for an assessment.
Emergency Shelter & Transitional Housing
Your safety is our top priority. Shelter and Transitional Housing offer temporary places to stay when you have no other safe place to go due to domestic violence. These secure facilities ensure that nobody can enter without authorization, providing peace of mind. Empower Tehama's Transitional Housing facility allows you to live semi-independently while you prepare to get your own residence. A Housing Case Manager will work with you to address any challenges that might be hindering your ability to obtain permanent housing and will assist you in finding a long-term solution.
If you are in an abusive relationship and have nowhere safe to go, call Empower Tehama at 530-528-0226 or visit Empower Tehama's Business Center between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for an emergency assessment.
Rental Assistance Program
Recovering and rebuilding your life after experiencing trauma can be challenging. If you are homeless due to domestic violence and struggling to establish a safe place of your own, Empower Tehama may be able to help. To find out if the Rental Assistance Program is right for you, visit Empower Tehama's Business Center between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and ask for a Housing Application.
